About the assessment

What to expect before and on the day.

Who can be assessed?

Dyslexia Clarity supports people of all ages. Hannah will talk through your needs first and check whether a diagnostic dyslexia assessment is the right service.

What happens during an assessment?

The assessment uses a range of structured activities to build a picture of strengths and areas of difficulty. Hannah explains each activity and keeps the session calm and supportive.

How long does it take?

Appointment length depends on the person and the assessment required. Hannah will explain the likely timing before you book and include time for breaks.

Can I take breaks?

Yes. Breaks are welcome, and the assessment can move at a pace that feels manageable.

Do I need to prepare?

There is no need to practise. Hannah will tell you what information may be helpful and send clear instructions before the appointment.

Can someone come with me?

Yes, where it is helpful and appropriate. Hannah can discuss the person’s preferences and any practical arrangements before the appointment.

Will the assessment feel like a test?

The activities are structured, but the aim is to understand how you learn, not to judge performance. Hannah explains what is happening and offers reassurance throughout.

Your report and next steps

How findings are explained and put to use.

Will I receive a formal diagnosis?

A diagnostic assessment can formally identify dyslexia when the evidence supports it. Hannah will explain the findings and any limits clearly.

When will I receive the report?

Hannah will confirm the current report timescale before booking. She will let you know what to expect and keep you informed if anything changes.

What will the report include?

The report will describe the learning profile, recognised strengths, areas of difficulty and practical recommendations. It is written to be clear and useful.

Will you explain the findings?

Yes. Hannah will explain the findings in plain language, answer questions and help you understand the recommendations.

Can the report support adjustments?

Yes. The recommendations can help you discuss reasonable adjustments in education or at work, although the organisation will make the final decision.

Can I share the report with education or work?

Yes. The report belongs to you and can be shared with relevant people when you choose. Hannah can explain which sections may be most useful.

Is follow-up support included?

A follow-up conversation is included so Hannah can explain the findings and answer questions. Any additional support will be discussed clearly before it is arranged.

Practical details

Booking, location, costs and privacy.

Where do assessments take place?

Hannah will confirm the available assessment location and appointment options when you enquire, so you can decide what feels practical and comfortable.

Are online appointments available?

Contact Hannah to check which parts of the service can currently be offered online and whether an online appointment is suitable for your needs.

How much does an assessment cost?

Hannah will confirm the current fee and exactly what is included before you book. You will have a chance to ask questions before making a decision.

How do I book?

Start with an enquiry or initial conversation. Hannah will listen to what you need, explain the service and confirm the next step before any booking is made.

What if I am unsure whether assessment is right?

That is completely fine. An initial conversation can help you understand the options without committing to an assessment.

Can someone else make the initial enquiry?

Yes. A parent, carer or other authorised person can make the first enquiry. Hannah will explain consent and involvement before personal information is shared.

How will my information be kept private?

Dyslexia Clarity will use personal information only for clear purposes, limit access and store it securely. The data protection page explains the approach and your rights in more detail.
